Passaggi
dal 28 0ttobre in tutti i negozi di dischi

Currently available in music stores, Luigi Cinque’s latest album was produced by Radio Fandango, distributed by Edel and recorded at the Saturnia Studio Recording…

With Passaggi—his latest album—Luigi Cinque once again confirms his originality in musical composition and interpretation: an originality that has characterized his work from some time now. In constant evolution and an anticipator of future sonorous solutions, with the album Passaggi, Luigi Cinque—a unique figure on the Italian and international music scene—offers a mature demonstration of his evolution as a composer. It is a work that spans from the traditional song to the recital of contemporary poetry, and to the colorfulness of Italy’s distant and evocative dialects. The musical texture of the album, which is indeed inspired by jazz, ethnic and contemporary music and sung poetry, implies a personal style, comprised of an innovative mix that surpasses the idea of musical contamination and presents itself as an alternative to the exhausted stream of world music and jazz.
It is not by chance that international critique has more than once placed Luigi Cinque’s latest productions close to the experiences of Northern European Jazz (by Garbarek for example) and to the great ‘devisian’ musical form of the modal or melancholic jazz of the global village—and specifically to that of Fabrizio de Andre.
In Passaggi, the voices, sounds and listening experience take on a strong narrative rhythm. The Hypertext Orchestra—Luigi Cinque’s own ensemble—is composed of major international soloists, like Alex Balanescu on the violin, the extraordinary Eastern vocalist Urna Chahar Tugchi, jazz pianists Danilo Rea and Sal Bonafede, Maurizio Giammarco and Gianluigi Trovesi on the winds, the Mediterranean vocalism of Lucilla Galeazzi and the Afro-vocalism of Badara Seck, Argentinean bandoneon players like Walter Rios, American guitar player David “Fuze” Fuzcinsky. Many other talents make Passaggi a new milestone—after Tangerine CafË and Sacra Konzert—in the artistic journey of Luigi Cinque.
The album is a fresco and synthesis of new music—both popular and cultivated. The magical sounds of an imaginary South along with the distinct style and meaning, created by this internationally acclaimed musician and composer, serve to make this artist one of the most important representatives of post-fusion music.
