2006 - Sacra Konzert

A CD
A collection of studio tracks recorded in a duo or in a trio with other musicians, such as: Eolicum, with Salvatore... Ommo and Ommo Ritmicus were cutted with Raiz, Masaba Saturnia and Masaba for Bamako with Baba. Other tracks, of which I'm very fond, were cutted live inside churches and other worship places such as Badara's Mariama... veruela Francesco... Veruela Cilentana... Santo... Preludio Cinque... Compostela... Shesham... Nomad .

A DVD
...from a mediterranean liturgy's fragment, to another
I
t's a camera crossing... it's a sequence level inside the cantata, or supplication to the God of Peace. The camera's eye frames scenes, artists and backstages of an adveture addressed to an audience from many and different mediterranean places, and more...

The supplication reports sounds from a logbook, which is geographycally similar to the Homeric Ulysses' one – in between Europe and Middle-East. It's a reason's journey to complementary states of rhythm and words, it's a journey to coexistence of different rituals... to coexistence of different voices addressed to the same desire.

The Dvd it's an observation post with a listening guide...it's a self-interview... it's a memory movie/effect... (it's a, even political, tribute to good-old “I'm gonna think and sing about it”)... so that, while on scene, we've remarked upon it...laughing, with no ideologies... ci ragiono e suono... ( I'm gonna think and play about it...)

2003 - Sunaulòs - live concert

4th International Reed-Pipe Festival, Scapoli
Luigi Cinque, with: Shmuel Achiezer, Orazio Corsaro, Jivan Gasparian and La Mainarda Orchestra.
“It's about a work that gathered in Scapoli for some days several musicians from all over Europe who never meet each other before. Some of them are so called instrumentist-myth, such as Jivan Gasparyan who played his douduk, a musical trace in many actual movies like 'Passions' and 'The Gladiator' as a special guest. Shmuel Achiezer playing clarinet in a mood between orchestra and street music, not just klezmer. ['] Luigi Cinque made a very complicated, elaborated work. It was about arrange beforehand in studio a score for a very rare reed-pipes and bagpipes (instrument so much different one from the other for range and structure as well as the culture they come from), orchestra. That orchestra was supported by the incisive, living rythm of the 'La Mainarda' Orchestra of Maurizio Agamennone (Florence University)”

2002 - tangerine cafè MRF edizioni

Tangerine Café, you can imagine it as you will, listen to the music you wish: the important thing here is your way of seeing: what’s needed is an enquiring gaze, one which draws upon your memory in order to resist the time taken in perusing oblivion. THO’ has stopped off here for this record. We are here twixt the real world and that cluster of bluish tables through which, today, you can glimpse the strong legs of the dancers and hear the sound of hoarse voices. It’s dusk, but you can sense there’s a city out there beyond the window panes, a city with its harbour and fried-food shops on narrow lanes, and the murmuring
hubbub of countless dialects. It is a plain ‘frontier’ bar, a café set-up amidst ramshackle modernity, aware that the universe - contrary to what
people keep telling us - is not a vast mechanism, but rather, a vast thought.
A thought with its circular beat waiting to be perceived, and its centres of gravity waiting to be felt.
Just tune into the rhythm, the memory of your heart and look Southwards, lay its sound upon the horizon, and there you will see the chipped sign of the Tangerine Café. You can spot it from any point North, sometimes even by chance

CORSO COMO 4 – MARE NOSTRUM

The Romans have always preferred mainland firmness to rough sea. In fact, in 260 B.C. they won the first sea battle against the Carthaginian thanks to a brilliant "techinical-tactical" invention: the boarding ramps, allowing a hazardous maritime battle to be transformed into a more secure land battle. from that moment on, and thanks to the consistent use of that invention, the Romans rapidly became the undisputed rulers of the whole Mediterranean Sea which soon became a "private swimming pool" - a natatory evolution of what Socrates had called "the frogs'pound" in one of his poems. As a matter of fact, the Mediterrean Sea - safer and more hospitalitable than the ocean that howled beyond the Pillars of Hercules - was lately renamed Mare Nostrum. Mare Nostrum caption is however used with a different meaning in this contest. This expression, as marvellously stressed by Luigi Cinque in his introduction, is here used to briefly summarise the vast richness of music and cultures of the many nations boarding the Mediterranean Sea.

MILLEUNA
E ALTRE PAROLE PER MUSICA
di Nanni Balestrini
Currently available in bookshops, Nanni Balestrini’s Milleuna E altre parole per musica will soon be presented to the public. Published by DeriveApprodi, this unique music-poetry publication features a vast array of artists, including Luigi Cinque.
The poetry section is accompanied by a CD, which sets the poems to music. This unique opera further solidifies the intimate bond between poetry and music.
It is collocated at the centre of a larger process called ‘The Savage Identity’ and to use Luigi Cinque’s words: the poetry and the CD are not two different profiles of the same face but they are instead inevitably inseparable—an all-accomplished opera made up of voiced poetry and contemporary music.
Within the vast artistic activity of Nanni Balestrini, his first fatal encounter was with the sound of the poetic word, which later led to numerous experiments and experiences with music. His writings have been the object of stage performances and recordings. Some of these experiences are featured in Milleuna, shedding light on the vast array of solutions that evidence the principle feature of Balestrini’s poetry: the pursuit of an expressive force based on the material value of words. It is an opera where the word’s union with music makes this expressive force all the more explicit and engaging. Here are some of the precious nodes of this new poetic-musical mosaic: Luigi Nono ‘Contropunto dialettico alla mente’; Demetrio Stratos ‘Le milleuna’; Valeria Magli ‘Paesaggio con giunchi attraversato dalla signorina Richmond’; Steve Lacy ‘Sommerbird’; Quatuor ‘Maniche Alba’; Esther Roth ‘Le poisson ardent’; Paolo Rossi ‘Tango dei furiosi’; Luigi Cinque ‘Elettra’; Peppe Servillo ‘Sandokan’; Mario Mazzoli ‘Istantanee’; Antonio Rezza ‘Basta cani’; Paolo Fresu ‘Frammenti del sasso appeso’; Third ‘I Cieli’.
